A performance that you shouldn’t miss
What do you do when you feel like everything is constantly jubilating past you? Boom. What if you hear the dull bass, but have no idea where it’s coming from. Boom, boom. Life feels like a big stomping party whose entrance you just can’t find. Boom, boom, boom. How long do you keep looking in that cold and deserted business park? And are all those elated others really there or are they just ghosts in your head?
The performances devised and directed by Jetse Batelaan always delight both young and old. Batelaan is a master of funny and philosophical youth theater. The most unexpected events take place, on stage and often in the audience. This is because Batelaan and his actors take a starting point right to the point of absurdity. This time it is about ‘fomo’: the fear of missing out on something, which can affect young people in particular. Three stage characters search a deserted terrain for a party they wish they could have attended.
Theater Artemis, the company where Batelaan is artistic director, is collaborating with Theater Basel from Switzerland on this performance. They did this earlier with the slapstick performance Ruzie (6+). Nobody wants to miss the sequel.
