Fantasizing together with Thea !
Audience supervisor Thea ter Doek wants to explain what theater actually is. But from the start, Thea gets confused. Because has the performance we are about to watch already started or not? And the construction worker who suddenly comes in to drill a hole, might he be part of it? Together with the little spectators, Thea watches what all emerges from behind the red curtain. She would like everything to be clear. But when Thea interferes with the performance, it only gets weirder. A policeman coughs up blue balls, a tea bag becomes giant, and mysterious shapes turn out to tell something after all.
This funny, expressive performance is about the difference between joking and fantasizing. Players Katelijne Beukema and Eileen Graham captivate every audience with their comical, physical play. With their group coupdeboule, the mime duo makes sparkling, playful-philosophical performances. This time together with the Utrecht youth company Het Filiaal. And with director Elias de Bruyne, who specializes in absurdist theatrical events. ‘Brokkejok is an intimate theatrical adventure,’ wrote De Theaterkrant, ‘that between the beginning and the end, or between the end and the beginning, or between two endings or two beginnings, keeps on surprising. The truth is only really worthwhile when the imagination has been given room to run wild with it.’

‘Eileen Graham and Katelijne Beukema display a disarming sense of humor in their highly alert, physical acting. Graham’s audience companion is blood-irritating, yet you feel sympathy for her visible plodding.’ – Theater Newspaper
