Can you make art about something delicious that you would like to eat every day? Artist Ursa Prek does just that.

What she really likes is a vanilla dessert. You can buy it in the supermarket in Slovenia, where she used to live. She remembers exactly when she first ate this delicious dessert. That was when she was five years old, and she was at home with her father. Ursa Prek now lives in the Netherlands, and her father is no longer alive. The vanilla dessert reminds her of the past, and of the country she comes from. That is why it is important to her.

For example, she built a tower with the desserts: all those plastic tubs on top of each other. And when she made a work of art with all the stuff from her father’s house, she put the vanilla dessert in between. Prek even let the dessert experience a great adventure. With the help of employees of the KNMI, which monitors the weather above the Netherlands with measurements, the tub was shot into the air, up to 32 kilometers above the earth.
