Catching Cultures Orchestra is a Utrecht-based organization of committed musicians from diverse cultural backgrounds, especially newcomers, who create high quality intercultural musical offerings for diverse audiences. Catching Cultures Orchestra performs in changing lineups and manages to surprise and move their audiences time and again.
Multiple musical styles are woven together in inventive ways. Western wind parts are added to Kurdish and Arabic pieces. Special styles and musical traditions are explored, such as Arabic jazz, classical music from Latin America, folk music from Yoruba culture and various Chinese pieces. All this comes together in dynamic and culturally eclectic performance.
CCO not only performs, workshops and play-along rehearsals are organized. CCO has its own annual festival in TivoliVredenburg and visits AZCs to jam with residents. CCO is an interactive Utrecht orchestra to be proud of.
