The Flemish group toutpetit can often be seen on Tweetakt with dance performances that are specially made for the very youngest. What is special is that the children (and their parents/guardians) are always allowed to participate. Sometimes they are allowed to play with the used items and materials afterwards, but the audience can also be invited onto the dance floor during the performance.

In the latest performance by toutpetit, the dancers’ costumes play the leading role. They are also spectacular. The three dancers let their movements be guided by the colorful, imaginative clothing they wear. In a game with fabrics and materials, they show how the enlarged costumes change their body shapes. In fact, they let their costumes dance. And after they have conjured up the most wonderful images with them, the children are allowed to come and move along between the swaying pieces of fabric.

Ciska Vanhoyland and Lies Cuyvers from toutpetit work together with the German dancer/choreographer Alfredo Zinola at Franje. All three love to let a young audience experience how nice and beautiful dance can be, without the need for a story or overwhelming effects. The costumes are designed by Darius Dolatyari. He is trained as a fashion designer and as a dancer. He combines this in his theatrical garments that deform the body and invite dancers to experiment with it.
