Mystery, humor and earthquakes in Loppersum!
Something strange is happening in Loppersum. The ground under the village in Groningen is shaking and trembling, sometimes so hard that houses are almost falling over. No one knows why. Is there something under the ground? Is it the Minotaur? That terrifying creature from ancient times, half man, half bull … and fond of children! And if so, what do the cows in the meadow know about it?
In the family show Loppersum, Koen and Jeroen delve into this mystery. With their mix of humor and imagination they connect the ancient Greek story about the Minotaur with the earthquakes in Groningen. Did you know that there were also many earthquakes in ancient Greece? People didn’t understand anything about it and were terrified. Maybe that’s why they invented a monster like the Minotaur? Because if you know what you’re afraid of, it’s already a lot less scary… right?
Koen ter Braak and Jeroen van Arkel graduated from the acting program at the Utrecht School of the Arts in 2023. Their previous performance Moddergat, about two absurd birdwatchers, was selected for Via Rudolphi’s Het Debuut 2023. Like Moddergat, which could be seen at Tweetakt last year, Koen and Jeroen show how theater can take you anywhere. They take you on a playful adventure full of unexpected and funny twists. This new performance, made especially for Tweetakt, takes place outside at Fort Ruigenhoek, which for a short while is transformed into the Groningen countryside. Come watch and discover for yourself what is going on under Loppersum, but be warned: you may suddenly feel something shaking….
