Ger and Gon have been together all their lives. They have a great time in their canary yellow cottage by the sea. There they pick mussels and they pick at each other. Then suddenly something changes. Ger is not feeling well, and becomes more and more confused. That can happen when you’re that old. But Ger and Gon can’t live without each other.

The surprising, imaginative performances by Non Creators Company, the theater group of Rosita Segers and Max Laros, are always original in form. With great humor and enjoyment, the pair make complicated themes understandable and recognizable. Last year at Tweetakt, for example, they depicted the idea of a creator who made the world in Everything That Remains to be Conceived. They played two figures on a tiny playing surface who perform all the tasks an invisible voice tells them to do, and who gradually discover the freedom to think for themselves what they want to do.

Ôskwanteklip is about what very many children and young people experience: the loss of a grandfather or grandmother. Max and Rosita alleviate the fear of this and the grief over it by depicting the end of a life with comforting wonder. They take the audience inside Ger’s confused head, where everything becomes stranger and anything is possible. The seagulls by the sea start singing, the canary yellow house becomes very small, and dentures take on a life of their own. The performance is magical and expressive, and full of play with masks. It plays outside at Fort Ruigenhoek, where all sorts of figures appear from behind the hills.
