‘Is early discovery a springboard to success or the gangway to ruin?’
Can you fully experience life when you grow up in front of the cameras? What does it do to you when you are constantly in the spotlight? And how do you remember what is real and what is not? In a reunion show, nine child stars look back on the show that meant their breakthrough. Once upon a time they were carried on their hands by a delirious audience. Meanwhile, they are older and less special.
”All the normal things that normal young people do normally, I just experienced on camera. A first kiss, learning to drive, sleepovers? I never did it in real life, I only pretended.”
Mitch Van Landeghem (1996) plays and writes. He has played with Hof van Eede, Ontroerend Goed, De Nwe Tijd & hetpaleis, Deschonecompanie and Michiel Vandevelde, among others. He is a member of player collective Camping Sunset and of WOLF WOLF, whose Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? was selected for Het TheaterFestival in 2020. Together with Carine van Bruggen, he created the performances The Rules of Attraction and Finally. Together they form the young collective of DE HOE.
