Everyone can dance. Smaakmakersmakes it so easy to join in! Before you know it, you’ll be on the floor yourself. That takes just a few steps. First, you watch a short performance by two dancers. It’s funny and beautiful how they use a lot of clothing items in their movements. The dancers help each other with sweaters, shirts and skirts, but all the sleeves, buttons and zippers seem to have a mind of their own. Afterwards, the dancers ask the viewers what they saw, thought or felt. And then the dancers take you along. They help you on your way with small assignments. Come and experience it: even if you think that dancing is not for you, you’ll suddenly be doing it.

The Utrecht group De Dansers came up with Smaakmakers to give as many children and young people as possible a taste of dance. They want to arouse ‘appetite for dance’ with this program, which they mainly perform at schools. The duet with the clothing items was created and is performed by Maxime Abbenhues and Mees Meeuwes from Collectief MAMM. They have made a name for themselves with their acrobatic duets. Commissioned by De Dansers, they came up with a duet that is very accessible due to the struggle with clothing, and invites you to get started yourself.
