A super energetic dance performance
Eight children between the ages of 9 and 13 are the dancers in this super-energetic dance performance. They are from Brussels, and created the performance together with Flemish choreographer Claire Croizé. The dance piece floats on the explosive zest for life of children, and is about group spirit; as a united gang, the dancers take the floor. Their movements are based on self-devised games and parades.
Together with the children, the choreographer wanted to return to the starting point of dance. No virtuoso pieces of art, but enjoying moving bodies, with as sound only the dancers’ breathing and the stirring rhythm of percussion music. The children make those rhythms themselves, on drums or on their bodies. And existing compositions by Xenakis, for example, are used. The audience is seated around the dancers, on a circular wooden tribune built especially for the performance. At Tweetakt that stand is outside, at Fort Ruigenhoek.
