This funny, acrobatic spectacle for the very youngest turns halfway through into a join‑in adventure. Two rather hapless builders are building a playground. Then they decide that the floor is lava.
With stunt and flying work, they try to finish their building project without touching the floor. But they must not be caught by the strict site supervisor. In the playful chaos, the performers unleash their creativity and imagination on their bodies and the building elements. Then the young spectators (ages 3–10) are allowed to come onto the stage and join in. The actors turn into living climbing frames and walkways. The performance ends with a finale in the “Jonas machine”. So spectacular that even all the adults want to take off their shoes to jonas along.
The Utrecht‑based theatre collective Rake Klappen creates physical, witty theatre, mainly in outdoor locations. They call it philosophical slapstick themselves. In Klauterstout, Rake Klappen takes audiences from the age of four along in the sense of wonder at everything that is possible with bodies and materials. Afterwards, the children, together with the performers, learn how to assess risks in a safe way. This success performance, which has already been performed 200 times in the Netherlands and Belgium, is now coming to Tweetakt!
