Brian loves playing hide-and-seek, singing, dancing, her imagination—and she really, really loves candy. She’s crazy about sweets, absolutely freaking crazy. She wants to turn pink, she wants to turn sour, she wants to become a cloud (she loves cotton candy). She’s beside herself with excitement—more and more, three times over, completely over the moon.
Then she suddenly bursts into tears. She feels… nothing. She feels… emptiness… loneliness…
Brian and the Sugar Rush is a comedic, musical performance set in a colorful candy world. It’s about being a child in a gigantic world where an overwhelming abundance of things comes rushing at you. How can you, as a child, learn to protect yourself from problems that are bigger than you, from things that are frightening and hard to grasp? How can you learn to make your own choices and recognize when you feel good and safe? Where can you find silence, where can you find rest—and what is love, really?
Life can feel so abstract.
The supply of candy seems like a bottomless pit. But actually, that’s just an optical illusion—you just can’t see the bottom yet…
