Het fort is lang geleden gebouwd om Nederland te verdedigen tegen vijanden die met hun leger ons land wilden binnenvallen. Met zijn schommel geeft de kunstenaar een lief antwoord op de gedachte aan oorlog. Laten we spelen in plaats van vechten.
The artwork is called ‘Dissolving Defences’ meaning that defences slowly disappear. Above the swing, you can read the words: “You are not alone.”
Taiwanese artist Chan Chiao Chun (1984) has been working in the Netherlands since completing his Master’s degree in Contextual Design at the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2016. His wildly colourful objects create a surreal view of the relationship between people and the things around them.
