Daydreaming can be pleasant, but your imagination can also be exciting or frightening. In this performance for young and old alike, a dancer moves through a colourful set.
In a landscape she keeps transforming herself, she follows her imagination. It takes her to wondrous places that are light and beautiful. But also to places where things grow darker. The dancer is Carli Gellings, who also created the performance. She wondered what imagination actually does to you. Does it offer safety and protection, or does it lead us towards the uncomfortable feelings and fears we carry with us? In Grip, Gellings lets the (young) audience experience it all. She makes tangible how thoughts can sometimes give you great strength, and at other times throw your off balance.
Carli Gellings began her career as a dancer. The prize she won in 2019 at Festival Tweetakt for the graduation solo from her dance education, prompted her to start working as a choreographer and theatre-maker. What drives her is the exploration of the movement within us, and the movement around us.
