Strange, limp creatures crawl up out of a mountain of coloured fabrics and stuffed cloth. They have long, wobbling bodies, long arms and large heads. They wriggle and jump, spin around and fall down.
Gradually, three dancers emerge from beneath the creatures. Playfully, they move with their bodies and with the soft material. They wrap themselves in it and become new creatures again. Then they throw everything off and whirl dancing through the landscape of fabric. Sparkling, sometimes very funny, music accompanies all their movements.
In this enchanting performance from Norway, the audience sits close to the dancers, on all four sides of the playing area. After the performance, children are allowed to come and play with the fabrics, cushion shapes and limp dolls. Choreographer Ingri Fiksdal wants to give audiences from the age of six a sensory experience that invites them to move or dance themselves. A source of inspiration for Lava Forest is climate change, and how the environment in which we live is affected by it.
In her dance productions, Ingri Fiksdal weaves scenarios about the future of humanity and the world. She has already made more than thirty performances, which are performed in Europe, Asia and North America. Lava Forest is a collaboration with Kloden Teater from Oslo, a venue for youth theatre that focuses on all young age groups.
