Very ordinary things that we use every day, Chan Chiao Chun transforms into bizarre artworks.
With his chairs you can see that they are chairs, but all sorts of things seem to grow out of them, as if they were strange plants from nature. The artist makes everything by hand, and you immediately recognise his work because he uses so many colours. Some of those colours he discovered himself through the experiments he does with paint pigments. When creating his artworks, he lets himself be guided entirely by his own feelings and his imagination.
The Taiwanese artist Chan Chiao Chun (1984) has been working from the Netherlands since he completed his Master in Contextual Design at the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2016. His overwhelmingly brightly multicoloured series of objects offer a surreal view of the relationship between human beings and matter.
