Three dancers become completely absorbed in a game of ‘the floor is lava’. They are not allowed to touch the ground, and for that they use everything that is available: their clothes and shoes, objects and chairs.
The dancers are endlessly inventive in what they come up with. There are virtuosic balancing acts and quick costume changes. With their expressive faces, elastic bodies and storytelling hands, the trio conjures up wordless stories. It is funny and magical at the same time. Everything is possible in the game they are playing. Until one of the three changes the rules. Who actually decides what is and what is not allowed? And how can you still play together if someone no longer wants to join in?
Young and old alike have already been enchanted by this sparkling performance by Turkish‑German theatre and dance maker Ceren Oran. She leads her own company, Moving Borders, in Munich. From her mission to involve children in art, Oran creates poetic dance theatre that communicates clearly with a young audience. In Germany, Spiel im Spiel received raving reviews. ‘An absolutely brilliant performance for all ages.’
