Can everyone sing in a choir? At The Space Choir, they can! Everyone is welcome there. Experienced and inexperienced singers, people in their twenties, pensioners, queers – they all go along with the groove.
They sing surprising pop songs, from Justin Bieber’s Daisies and Beyoncé’s Bodyguard to So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings by Caroline Polachek and Back on 74 by Jungle. Together, they make the audience dance, laugh, sing and cry.
The Space Choir was founded by musician, choir conductor and arranger Lucas Vermeer, with the mission to bring people from all generations and backgrounds together. Rehearsals take place in Rotterdam, The Hague, Amsterdam and Utrecht. Choir members choose for themselves what contribution fee they can afford to pay. Ever since Australian superstar Troye Sivan shared a video of The Space Choir, things have been moving fast for the choir. Performing in sold‑out venues.
